I will stand up for our area and our services.
Lately, it feels like even the basics aren’t right.
It is still difficult to get a GP appointment when needed, sewage is being dumped into our rivers at an ever greater rate and we still face a tough cost of living.
When I speak to people, they say they can’t depend on public services to work as they should anymore.
On top of all of that, we are now faced with an ever more unstable world. After years of Conservative and Labour cuts to both defence and foreign aid, and a damaging withdrawal from the EU, our country is weaker and more isolated.
This is a perilous place to be.
It’s our job to hold Labour’s feet to the fire, to make sure they deliver on our NHS, hold water company bosses to account, and fix public services. Above all, we must make sure our country is secure and we stand with our allies against bullies like Trump and Putin.
